How to Find a Good Hair Salon

Finding a good hair salon is very important but it can be hard to do if you don’t know what to look for. Don’t just walk into one and hope for the best. Do your homework so that you are able to really feel good about it. Check out several locations too before you decide on one. Not only do you want a friendly and comfortable salon but you want to find the right stylist there to assist you with all of your needs.

When you walk into any hair salon you should be greeted by someone at the front desk. They should be willing to give you a tour if you say that you are looking for a new salon. This allows you to check around for cleanliness, if there are work stations set up that have the right items for cutting and styling hair, and if there are plenty of customers. If the place is empty that could be a red flag that something isn’t right.

You also want to ask about prices when you look for a good hair salon. Going to get your hair done shouldn’t break the bank. The fact that paying high dollar often doesn’t get you any better results than what you would pay for in a moderate salon is very important. Then you won’t have to cut down on your trips to the salon.

Ask your friends and family where they get their hair done at; especially those that have a look you are impressed with. They will likely give you a referral and that gives you some places to check out. You can also talk to strangers you see at the mall, in restaurants, and at social gatherings. Tell them that you like their hair cut, hair color, etc. Then ask them if they would mind telling you where they get it done and who their stylist is.

Keep in mind that you need to be able to feel that you have a great rapport and communication with your hair stylist. Make an initial appointment only for a consultation. Bring in magazines or photos of what you are interested in. Talk with them casually and make sure you feel that you will enjoy working with them. Sometimes a good hair appointment can take an hour or so and you don’t want it to be awkward.

Finally, you want to choose a good hair salon that can accommodate your needs. If they are overbooked with clients it can be frustrating. While you can’t expect to call and get in the same day, they should be able to get into the schedule without too much difficulty in a week or so.

Everyone has their own idea of the right hair stylist so don’t settle for anything less. Even if you have been with the same person for a while it may be time for a change. You never have to feel obligated to stay where you aren’t happy. Your hair is your crown of glory and you want to feel great about who you work with and your look.
